Brightelmstone Club is established.

Founded by Mrs. Henry Baldwin and others, it is an affiliate of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the female alternative to the Faneuil Improvement Association. The organization adopts by-laws and a constitution on January 4, 1897. Members include Harriet Baldwin and Mrs. Florence Whitehill. The club subsequently purchases a former church building at 541 Cambridge Street to serve as its headquarters.
